Salt Lake City ...

Today we left at 8:30 from Cody and after an hour or so, it started to rain.... I have to say that I am pretty sick of rain.. I have been wearing capri pants and flip flops for23 days and I am not tan at all! Not even a little bit! What the heck! When you go on vacation you are supposed to get tan not soaking wet everyday! But again, I digress......
We went to Promontory Point today to see where the last spike was put in the ground to connect the railroad across the U.S. Pretty cool. Way the heck in the middle of nowhere, but pretty cool. They do a little reenactment in period clothes and have a movie and talk.. Of course it was raining and windy, but still cool... We met Bill Gerrard and his son Jordan there and he took us to someplace where they had rockets so we took pics of the cars in the pouring rain with the rockets then on to an old style drive in where he took pics of the cars and we had lunch... We then drove to an ice cream shop where we met a friend of Bill's and they took pics of the cars there while we had some ice cream.. it was still raining like a mother when we headed to SLC..It was a little hairy on the freeway today with quite a few accidents and the pouring rain, but we all made it safe and sound to the hotel. Ralph and Marie are here too after their jaunt away from the group, so it is great to see them! We all went to a Benni hanna" style restaurant for dinner and caught up on what we have all been doing... Great dinner and even better company...
Tomorrow we will try to go to Temple Square and see some of the sights of SLC.... Gary has some work to do for work, (the county surveyor has to work on his vacation) so it will be a restful day for us. Hopefully no rain! At least our hotel has covered parking so the cars are dry..
Ter :o)
