Rapid City

Today AIS was 9:00am and we were off to the 1880 train... We put the address in our trusty GPS and it said 34 minutes so we had lots of time to make the 10:00 train... Ahhhhh no... We did have a beautiful route there but it was really an hour drive.... We arrived to find the train pulling out and Wayne Yada there thinking we were on the train already! Luckily he didn't buy his ticket... He has come to meet us from Visalia Ca. and drive back with us. We are happy to have another "shoebox" on the trip with us, along with Wayne of course, so welcome Wayne!
Since we missed the morning train we decided to go to the Crazy Horse Monument. WOW! That is impressive ! It was started in the 1940's and is totally funded by private donations. It is an amazing story that is way to long to go into, but if you ask me I'll tell ya all about it when I get back...
We then went back to the train and had a great ride! After the Steam Train, we went to Mt. Rushmore. Oh you just can't describe it. You have seen pictures your whole life, in school and on TV, but it's not like being there.... It is awe inspiring! Majestic! Totally Amazing! I'll post a pic or two....
Ok, the next thing was the "Flying T Chuck Wagon and Show" Now I really wasn't into this, but Gar wanted to go, so I went and it was so fun! We had a Cowboy type dinner (Gar had Buffalo!) and then a show. The band was Great! We had a blast and I'm so happy Gary thought up this fun time for us... Thanks Honey!
Tomorrow we are off to Wall Drug and the town of Keystone, then back to Mt. Rushmore tomorrow night for the lighting ceremony. Can't wait to see it at night!
More tomorrow!
Ter :o)
