Sunday

Gary's comments for today follow: So far our trip has been uneventful but very busy. We’ll be picking up our car from Capitol Cadillac tomorrow (Monday) and getting prepared for the Big Trip. The other ‘long haul’ drivers are in town and we’ll try to get together prior to leaving.
In the meantime we’ve been visiting DC’s myriad of sights and museums and have discovered that the time we allowed to tour the area was WAYYYYY short. We knew we wouldn’t be able to see everything but there is SSOOOO much to see….it’s like there’s a monument for everything and everybody. You could easily spend a month trying to see and explore the city.
Last night there was a local car show in the parking lot….wish I’d had the wagon. I told one guy I had shipped my car and it was in a warehouse a few miles north and I was going to drive it across country…..I could see “Yeah sure!” in his eyes so I just wandered around the show keeping my mouth shut.
Tomorrow’s goal is to drive to Baltimore and meet up with a friend from my Michigan days.
Terry's coments:
Hello Blog followers!
Yesterday and today we went to the Washington Mall and visited the museum's and took a tour bus around Washington and Arlington ...... We saw the Vietnam War Memorial and I had no idea that my reaction would be so emotional! Oh I had such a feeling of sadness to see and touch so many names! It brought me to tears as soon as I saw it and felt the realization that those are people with families that no longer have them in their lives. It was very emotional! Then we went to the Holocaust museum (yes, another uplifting place!) That was so emotional as well, but another kind of emotion... Sadness yes, but disbelief that something so horrible could happen in our lifetime... There are not that many survivors left and we can never forget what happened there...
As Gary said we are off to Baltimore tomorrow and to Charm City Cakes! Maybe Duff will come out???? I'm hoping so (for those that don't know what Charm City is...its a show on the food network) I am excited to drive by the bakery and perhaps they will come out when they see the Woodie.... Maybe not, but you never know... We are doing other things there too...Baltimore ducks, Dragon Boats and whatever else we can do... Maybe meeting our friend Bruce from NYC too....
OK that is more than enough for tonight!

We are here!

OK we made it, flight was.....well you know I don't like to fly! But I survived thanks to some little pills.. We got the rental car and drove 2.5 hours to Colonial williamsburg in VA. It was amazing, expensive and we had a great time! You really need about two days and we had about 4 hours so our time and experience there was limited....We were so tired having not really slept on the plane so Gary and I had to alternate driving until we made it back. While I as driving we had a BIG thunder and lightening storm and torential rain! HI !!!!California girl! Not good at lightening and thunder!!! All that aside our trip so far is good. Heading to the Smithsonian this morning. More for you tonight.....

Leaving tomorrow!

Hi !
Just a quick update before we heard off to DC.
We received an email this morning that our car was delivered safe and sound to it destination! YEA!
We are so happy it made it there, now we have to make it there!
We are packed and pretty ready to go I think, my ducks are in a row at work and tomorrow I will be relaxing before the plane ride. Those that know me know I am not a very good flyer, but my doctor was kind enough to prescribe me one pill to relax me for the trip.
Thanks Dr. Matalon, you are the best! Hopefully I will sleep my way to DC. (oh that does not sound good!) I mean I will have a restful flight to DC. :o)
Talk to you all when we get there!

Behold the Pictures!!! 5/21/09

Ok, it took me longer than I thought but here are a couple of pics from the trailer loading day.... On the left our beautiful car going on the trailer and on the right, Gary looking forlornly at his baby being taken away. I have one of him running after the truck, but I thought I would spare him the embarrassment of showing it...But I guess not the embarrassment of me telling you all! HA!
I took these with my phone and so I learned how to get it off my phone, onto my email, then onto my desktop and then into the blog...Not bad for a technologically challenged old lady! Yeah me, and Ian, thanks Ian, couldn't have done it without you !
Only 3 more working days....... and we are outta here!

Sunday May 17, 2009

On Sunday we met the transport truck at 10:00am and packed our baby into the trailer and sent Mr. Jagwood on it's way to Washington DC. Whew! Never thought we would see the day!
Don, the driver is the owner of the company and he was very considerate of our baby and gently loaded him onto the truck. It is a giant transporter with room for 8 cars. He told us of the stops he will be making along the way and the cars he will be picking up. He is experienced and comes highly recommended so we feel confident that our baby will make it there safe and sound.
I took lots of pictures and hopefully with Ian's help we will get some onto the blog tonight.
The loading of the car made the trip seem very real and now that there are only 6 work days left until we go, it seems unbeliveably close.
Check back for pictures, I know between Ian and I we will be able to do it! :o)

13 Days and Counting

Well we are 12 days away from flying to DC!
So exciting!

Today the Car Transport Trucking firm we are using called to set-up the pick up date! It will be Sunday the 17th after 2:00 pm.

Gary cleaned the car inside and out and now we will pack it with some of the things we can't take on the plane like big bottles of shampoo and conditioner, our cooler for drinks and snacks along the way and California wine (appropriatly named EARTHQUAKE!) for our friends along the way. I can't believe we are so close to shipping the car after so much preperation. I'll keep you posted on the progress and maybe even download aphoto of the car going in the truck on Sunday (I know, you don't believe me, but I'll try!) HA!
