Cody Wy.......

Hello Blog Watchers I'm a bit less tired tonight so we will start off with this new day of adventure.
AIS was 7:30 this morning for breakfast at a diner called Arnold's in Rapid City. Great place, great food, but S L O W.......We didn't get out of there until 8:35 ... We started on our way to Cody and about 60 miles into the trip the others decided to see Devil's peak (or some such name??) You know, the mountain, butte, or rock formation that was in "Close Encounters of the Third Kind".... I didn't need any aliens or devils with me today so we passed on that and Gar and I went on a beautiful scenic route on Hwy 14 A ("A" Stands for alternate...which I learned can be good or bad!)
Ok, I think Wyoming means "Big sky that rains on woody cars all day long", but to be fair there was snow too! Yes, snow! Not on the road, but next to it and it was cold! I am in capri's and flip flops, not exactly snow attire... Who knew there would still be snow? It's the middle of June...Maybe they don't use the same calendar we do?? HA!
Rain was the word of the day and I think it rained for 4 of the 7 hours we drove today. But again, it wasn't raining when we hit the snow! Enough of the weather though, we saw some amazing things! A moose, just hanging out and eating on the side of the road, beautiful buttes and rock formations some from a billion years ago. (There was a sign saying that!) We took some awesome pictures and some funny ones of us with the wind whipping us and our hair flying, in shorts and flipflops..It was windy up on that mountain with the moose.. :o) We made it to Cody at 4:15 and went to the Buffalo Bill Museum which was way cool as I had just seen a documentary on him before we left for the trip. They had alot of pictures, memorabilia, and personal items so we really enjoyed it. We found our hotel in the pouring rain, yes....it was raining again, and then the rest of our group made it in and we all went out to Mexican food and then walked a bit of Cody... Nice town, really enjoyed it. :o)
Tomorrow we are leaving at 7:30am to go thru Yellowstone and on to Idaho Falls. About 400 miles of driving... Not sure if our hotel "The Western Inn" has internet (don't think so since Gar had to call them for reservations!HA!) But I'll be back with more stories to tell in a couple of days...
Ter :o)
